2024 RDAQ Annual Awards

Our annual awards recognise rural doctors and community members making significant and outstanding contributions to healthcare in the bush. 

The award presentation and gala dinner are held each year as part of the RDAQ annual conference, which this year celebrates 35 years of RDAQ.

Award Categories

   

Honorary Life Membership

Criteria for nominees:
  1. Must be a registered medical practitioner based in Queensland,
  2. Demonstrated an exemplary commitment to rural and / or remote health, and
  3. Demonstrated exemplary commitment to the work of RDAQ, and 
  4. Must be a RDAQ member.  

 


   

Legend of the Bush

Criteria for nominees:
  1. Must be a registered medical practitioner based in Queensland, and
  2. Must have a long-standing and meritorious service to rural and / or remote medicine,  
  3. Current RDAQ membership is not required. 

 


   

Honorary Associate Membership - David Horn Medal

Criteria for nominees:
  1. Must have provided outstanding service to rural and/or remote communities.
  2. Long standing contribution to the betterment of rural and remote health, and / or 
  3. Must have provided outstanding service to RDAQ.
  4. Recipient must NOT be registered medical practitioners. 

   

 

RDAQ Meritorious Service Award 

Criteria for nominees:

  1. Must be a registered medical practitioner based in Queensland.
  2. Must be affiliated with the rural doctors' movement for a significant period of time.
  3. Demonstrated significant contribution to RDAQ or to rural medicine, OR 
  4. Demonstrated significant contribution to providing medical services to rural and/or remote communities,
  5. Recipients are preferably RDAQ members. 

   

Outstanding Rural Generalist Trainee - Denis Lennox Medal

Criteria for nominees:
  1. Nominees must be a current Queensland trainee* or within 12 months of completion of training at close of nominations, 
  2. Must demonstrate high level of commitment to rural and/or remote practice and provide an outstanding service to their community and/or colleagues.
  3. Has pursued rural generalist training with either ACRRM or RACGP and is engaged in rural generalist practice.

*A rural generalist trainee includes doctors training in rural generalist medicine as defined in the Cairns Consensus Statement including, but NOT limited to, trainees formally training on the Queensland Rural Generalist Pathway.
