FLOOD RECOVERY SUPPORT

The RDAQ Management Committee and team extend our support to the communities of Far North Queensland being impacted by the devastating flooding in the wake of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper.

Our thoughts are with our members, dedicated rural doctors, working and living in those impacted areas particularly at this time, so close to Christmas.

During this crisis your unwavering commitment to serving your patients and your communities is admirable, but we also understand that as the flood waters disperse, new challenges will emerge.

RDAQ is here to help during the recovery phase. We have provided some resources below but please reach out.

Resources & support

Emergency healthcare information

Staying up to date with the most accurate information is vital during an emergency and in the recovery phase.

The Northern Queensland Priority Health Network (NQPHN) website provides up-to-date information for clinicians about emergency services, local hospitals and local councils including a daily list of general practices and pharmacies that are open.

Emergency funding

In times of crisis, emergency funding keeps health services in rural and remote areas operating.

Rural Doctors Foundation has funding available to assist disaster-affected rural doctors and the people they care for.

  • Level 1 - Up to $1,000 for individual GPs in rural and remote communities.
  •  Level 2 - Up to $5,000 for individual GPs and practices in rural and remote communities.
  • Level 3 - Up to $10,000 for GP practices in rural and remote communities.

RDAQ Supports

RDAQ understands both the privilege and the pressures that come with being a rural or remote Queensland doctor.

Doctors working and living in the bush face a unique set of challenges that sometimes can seem overwhelming.

In times of crisis that pressure is only amplified.
That's why, on top of our advocacy efforts, we also offer tailored, confidential support services for members and non-members facing difficult professional circumstances.
